This piece depicts how I imagine Ghanaian independence was celebrated after president Kwame Nkrumah made the announcement in 1957. James Barnor is one of my greatest creative influences and I'm inspired by how he captures celebratory moments. This piece is a reminder of simpler times and the joy brought on by freedom in African history.
