Dr. Dre

After learning about charcoal powder and how it can be beneficial to a drawing, I decided to give it a go. Here is a little break down of how it went.....

I always tend to start wit the eye area, I guess it just gives me a better idea of how the whole drawing will pan out 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have a bad habit of starting with detail (pores and blemishes) without finishing the actual skin...At this point I made a mistake with the eye scale too.

At this point I was blending with the stump and using a cotton bud to smooth the skin tone as well. I also used my eraser to take away from the value to create the illusion of highlights.

Started to come together :) The charcoal pencil was super difficult to use. Not only because the actual pencil snaps so often and doesn't sharpen very well. I still tried to make it work!

This was the end result!!!!!!!

I think at this point my favourite part was the lips. Although they weren't as detailed as I would have liked, I think I did a pretty good job. I also decided I needed some more too. It would've been great to have a small sharper pencil and eraser for detail purposes.

Overall, it was fun for me to do :)
